Fueling museum careers through philanthropy Generous support from the Robert & Kelly Hill Fund, in partnership with FLC Career Services, enabled Lacy Miller’s internship at the Center of Southwest Studies to reach new heights. Unlike narrowly restricted grants, this funding gave the Center flexibility to provide a robust, skill-building experience tailored to Miller’s academic and professional goals. The support allowed her to take on advanced projects—learning professional museum practices, developing leadership skills, and mentoring fellow students. “Flexible funding like this is a game-changer,” said Amy Cao, museum collections manager. “We’re able to teach graduate-level museum work to undergraduates right here in the Four Corners.” Miller, who has worked in six museums as an undergraduate, said the internship has been career-defining. “The Center shaped my future—and this funding made it possible.”
