Nursing Fellows program elevates student support Thanks to a generous gift from the Ryan family, FLC is expanding support for CU Anschutz/FLC Nursing Collaborative students through the Ryan Family Nursing Fellows program and a dedicated pre-nursing advisor. Each year, up to ten pre-nursing students are named Ryan Nursing Fellows. They receive internship stipends and professional development. In turn, they help peers navigate the program, build a sense of belonging, and access advising and resources, strengthening student success, leadership, and the healthcare workforce. Shasta Hampton (White Mountain Apache), the Ryan Family pre-nursing advisor, has guided more than 100 students toward healthcare careers, connecting them with financial aid and Tribal and Indian Health Services scholarships, especially during their transition to CU Anschutz. As a first-gen graduate, it’s meaningful to help students thrive—not just in school, but in life. I want to make their experience impactful. Shasta Hampton BA Public Health, ’21, MPH ’24
