"The JSF scholarship gave me the financial security every college student needs during stressful times. It saved me countless hours so I could dedicate my time to focusing on school and affording a rental off-campus."

Chemistry undergraduate research

Thanks to donor support, Jeff McFarlane, assistant professor of Chemistry, served as faculty mentor for undergraduate summer research about the characterization of polyamine biosynthetic enzymes from human gut bacteria.

Aimee Morris

"Thanks to our generous Chemistry alumni donors, the Chemistry Department was able to put $33,000 toward undergraduate research stipends and faculty mentoring stipends this summer from our department and Undergraduate Research Foundation Funds accounts."

FLC Art Gallery

Thanks to the Ballantine Family Fund and other generous donors, the inaugural Native American Artist in Residence Program was launched, welcoming Gregg Deal (Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe), a multi-disciplinary artist, last year.

Deal taught student courses and made the FLC Art Gallery his home studio where students, faculty, and community members could see his work evolve in the space, learning about the creation process.

Marina Leigh

"Being awarded your scholarship was truly a gift. Going to school full-time limits the number of jobs I can hold and the hours I can work. Your scholarship has given me some relief, and I am truly grateful and honored that you chose me to receive such generosity. It truly felt like support in a time of need. "
